Letters, prayers, journals, testimonies, or family Bibles can become meaningful reminders if they point toward Christ.
Release the Outcome to God
Parents cannot guarantee that every future generation will follow Christ. They can witness faithfully and pray.
Define What You Hope the Next Generation Will Remember
Ask, “If our children and grandchildren remember only a few things about our household, what do we hope they are?” Answers might include that Scripture mattered, repentance was real, people were welcomed, prayer was normal, and Christ was worth following. This question can expose whether current family priorities match the legacy being desired.
The Best Legacy Makes Christ Larger
Healthy generational discipleship causes descendants to say less, “What an impressive family,” and more, “God was faithful, and we want to follow Him too.”
